In the first place, you're way off when you start railing at things and people instead of at yourself.

The hell with this aching, suffering, callow, half-assed delusion that he was in "love" with her. The hell with "love" anyway, and with every other phony, time-wasting, half-assed emotion in the world.

It depressed him to consider how much energy he had wasted, over the years, in the self-denying posture of apology. From now on, whatever else his life might hold, there would be no more apologies.

I rarely post about personal events in my life, unless I've shrouded the details in poetics, but I had to share a couple photographs from my evening at the Better Than a Cupcake fashion show. My company, FreelyBe, teamed up with BTAC and many other charities to host the event. Since girlhood, an interest in fashion and personal style have played an enormous role in my life. Part of the reason I moved to NY two years ago was to partially pursue that interest. It's always a rewarding moment to see your childhood dreams begin to mirror reality, even on a small scale.

Feelings are indicators, not dictators. They can indicate where your heart is in the moment, but that doesn't mean that they have the right to dictate your behavior and boss you around. You are more than the total sum of your feelings and perfectly capable of that little gift called… self control.
