Second stanza.
The girl down the street whom I've called
"sentimental doglady" goes out, two and a half weeks after,
knocks on every door of a housing development,
locates word of a thin, tick-crusted
something, wandering the area, stays and waits
with her husband, and there's the dog!
By God, I change my tune
about crying and giving up hope.
